Hi, I’m Rachel Cohen, a journalist based in Washington D.C.

Last spring, to better distribute my work, and in the hopes of raising some funds to support the reporting, I created a newsletter - “Rachel’s Notebook.” It is where I publish my freelance journalism — a mix of local and national stories.

This has been going well, but I realized some of my subscribers were primarily interested in local D.C. news, and primarily wanted to support local D.C. reporting. I also wanted to find a way to share the kind of news and updates with those readers that people living outside the city just aren’t as interested in.

And so I’m creating a second newsletter, for people who care about this unusual and special city of ours. My work has been published in Washington City Paper, Washingtonian, DCist and the Washington Post.

If you are already a paid subscriber to Rachel’s Notebook, you will get free access here, no one will be paying twice. But if you are only interested in subscribing to this, that’s a welcome option too!

This is an experiment, and I welcome feedback as I go forward. Also, tips, questions, and story ideas! I hope you sign up, and shoot me a note any time at rmc031@gmail.com.
